Energy Storage Transformer

The energy storage transformer is the core power conversion and interface device in an energy storage system, specifically designed to handle bidirectional power flow, frequent charge/discharge cycles, high harmonic content, and high safety requirements in energy storage applications.

The energy storage transformer is the key device in electrochemical energy storage systems for bidirectional power transmission, voltage conversion, electrical isolation, and grid-connection interfacing. It is mainly used in grid-side storage, renewable energy paired storage, commercial and industrial user-side storage, and microgrids. Compared with conventional distribution transformers, it is specially optimized for bidirectional power flow, frequent charge/discharge cycling, high harmonics, high reliability, and high safety in energy storage operations.

Maximum charge/discharge power for energy storage systems, commonly 500, 1000, 1250, 2500, 3150kVA, etc.

Ensures harmonic withstand capability, grounding performance, and stable bidirectional operation.

An energy storage transformer is a specialized transformer designed for bidirectional conversion, frequent charging/discharging, harmonic resistance, and impact resistance.

Ordinary transformers are designed for one-way power supply. In energy storage use, they may face:

High loss and severe heating during reverse operation

Excessive temperature rise and faster insulation aging caused by harmonics

Partial discharge and shortened life under frequent start-stop operation

Safety risks and non-compliance with energy storage grid-connection requirements

Dyn11 is preferred.
